Move over SuperContest, there’s a new football contest in Las Vegas that is the talk of the town. The Westgate SuperBook is debuting a higher-stakes, winner-take-all version of the world-famous pro football handicapping contest in 2017 called SuperContest Gold. Click here for official rules.

SuperContestAccording to Jay Kornegay, the VP of Race & Sports Operations at the Westgate SuperBook, SuperContest Gold will require a $5,000 entry fee and be limited to one entry per contestant. The same rules and deadlines will apply from the original SuperContest, which will continue with a $1,500 entry fee and be limited to two entries per contestant. Both contests will involve picking five NFL games against the spread for 17 weeks.

In addition, there will be two new bonuses for the SuperContest during the season. Kornegay said $15,000 will be awarded to the contestant(s) who have the most points after the first four weeks of the season and $15,000 to the contestant(s) who have the most points after the first eight weeks as well. The Mini Contest bonus will remain but drop from $20,000 to $15,000 for the contestant(s) who have the most points in the last three weeks. The bonus that had previously gone to any contestant(s) hitting 67 percent or better on their picks for the season has been eliminated in favor of the two early-season bonuses.

One more change as noted in the Las Vegas Review-Journal is that contest winners will also get Super Bowl-style rings this year valued between $1,500 and $2,000. The winner’s alias and record will be inscribed on the ring.

Contestants can start signing up for the SuperContest and SuperContest Gold at the Westgate SuperBook on July 1st. If 2,071 contestants or more enter the SuperContest, first place will be worth more than $1 million for the first time based on 35 percent of the prize pool and minus the 8 percent administrative fee, which was instituted last year.
